Youth players from five Abu Dhabi clubs travel to Manchester City Academy on Friday
Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced a delegation of Under 16 players drawn from five Abu Dhabi Clubs to leave on a tour to the English city Manchester on Friday, August 12.
The tour is part of a joint-cooperation between the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and City Football Group to support and upgrade the football programmes for the Abu Dhabi clubs.
The 16-player squads are drawn from Al Ain, Al Jazira, Al Wahda, Baniyas and Al Dhafra.
The 10-day tour will include joint training with the Manchester City Academy teams and under the supervision of the academy’s age group team coaches, interactive meetings and field visits, including a visit to the Etihad Stadium in Manchester city.
The tour squad is made up of: Abdul Rahman Omar, Suhail Khamis, Muhammad Elias, Rashid Salem, Jassem Rashid (from Al Jazira), Abdullah Rashid, Butti Ashour, Hamad Abdul Rahman, Salem Tariq, Khaled Obaid (Al Ain), Omar Ahmed, Rashid Abdallah, Saif Mubarak, Abdul Rahman Yousef (Al Wahda), Rabee Ali (Al Dhafra) and Hamed Khaled (Baniyas).
Talal Al Hashemi, Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector, said the tour is a continuation of the joint-cooperation providing the young footballers an opportunity to a new experience.
“The young Emirati footballers will have the opportunity to experience work ethics of the English academies, learn of different cultures, new technical skills and interact with players of their age groups,” he said.
