Saeed Al Maktoum and Aaron Marie are the champions of the second stage of the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge for Cars and Motorcycles
Yesterday, 17 December, the second stage of the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge, organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in cooperation with the Emirates Motorsports Organisation (EMSO), concluded in the Liwa Desert near Tel Mereb in the Al Dhafra Region.
The challenge was held under the umbrella of the Abu Dhabi 360 programme, an initiative that encourages society to make sport a part of daily life, and featured large local community participation alongside an elite group of motorsport enthusiasts from all over the world.
Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum won the overall Car category after covering a distance of 90 km in 57:22 minutes. Atef Zarouni came second with a time of 01:09 hours, and Saif Bin Sifan was third with a time of 01:11 hours.
In the Motorcycle category, Aaron Marie won the overall race after covering the race distance in 01:12 hours, followed by Mohammad Al Balawi, 01:13:43 hours, and Alex McNeese, 01:13:47 hours.
The winners were crowned by Saeed Al Muhairi, Director of the Specific Sports Department at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Badr Al Ali, Director of Control and Compliance at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Mahir Badri, Executive Director of the Emirates Motorsports Organisation.
The third stage of the challenge will be held on 24 January, and the opening of registration and stage details will be announced within the coming period.
